In this task, students will create an illustration that incorporates color theory. |
Standard 10: Examine color theories such as color context and contrasts of colors. Evaluate the use of various color schemes (such as complementary, tertiary, and analogous) in designs. Apply the knowledge to demonstrate basic techniques in combining colors to create designs. |

Color Theory Art Lesson
- Students will use an object from their home as the subject of their artwork e.g. shoes, game, radio, refrigerator, food etc.
- The student will use a 8.5/11 sheet of white paper to draw the object from observation using different angles and incorporating the illusion of space on the surface.
- Once the illustration is complete, the student will divide the paper into three sections.
- The students will paint the different sections with a different color scheme of their choosing.
- When the students complete their artwork, they must write the name of the color scheme used in each section of their artwork.
- The student will take a photo of their artwork and upload it to their online platform to submit to their teacher.
