Lesson Overviews

  • LESSON 11: In this lesson, students will name the current president, identify the White House as the president’s home, describe Washington, D. C. as the city in which the current president lives and where monuments of past presidents can be found, identify the American flag, and describe the differences between a president and king/queen.
  • LESSON 12: In this lesson, students will name George Washington as someone admired for his honesty and identify the cherry tree story as legend.
  • LESSON 13: In this lesson, students will describe George Washington as a general who fought for American independence and explain that General Washington led his army to victory even though his army was smaller than the British army.
  • LESSON 14: In this lesson, students will identify Geroge Washington as the first president of the United States and explain the sacrifices he made for the country.
  • LESSON 15: In this lesson students will Identify Thomas Jefferson as the third president of the United States, identify Thomas Jefferson as the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, describe the purpose of the Declaration of Independence as a statement of America’s liberty, identify the Statue of Liberty.

Lesson Overviews

  • LESSON 1: In this lesson, students will complete an oral blending and sound/spelling review, a review of the letter names, a review of rhyming words, and watch the teacher demonstrate reading the story “Up” before also  reading it as a whole group.
  • LESSON 2: In this lesson, students will complete an oral blending and sound/spelling review, a dictation activity, watch a teacher demonstration of the story “Fast Fred”, and participate in a small group reading activity.
  • LESSON 3: In this lesson, students will complete a segmenting and sound/spelling review, review the should /ch/, and complete a differentiated small group activity.
